The Formidable Elite

I believe that coaches become coaches out of a burning desire to help others.

And I'm sure that coaches would agree with me when I say that the moments when your athletes are recognised for their achievements are the reason we get up early and generally go to bed late. Moments like these make the 14-hour days and working through the weekend worth it.

Yesterday I had one of these moments. As I returned home last night I did my final phone check and saw that the WA Open Water Series had announced who had qualified for the “Elite” category. I was instantly intrigued. Which Formidable athletes had made the cut? Who missed out? As the link loaded and the names started to appear I could feel myself getting more and more excited. As I scrolled down the list of athletes I could hear myself counting in my head. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6…. 7 ……. 8! In disbelief, I returned to the top of the list and recounted. Again I found 8 names! I would like to make something very clear, every single one of these athletes deserves to be on this list. They have all worked so hard and their results stand for themselves but still 8 names! I was ecstatic! For some of these athletes, this is a big deal, to be recognised as Elite is something that they should all be very proud of. Here is the list of names and the club they represent! Bellamy Wilkinson - Breakers Swim Club Fiona Cullinane - Perth City Swimming Club Jay Prchal - Westcoast Masters Swimming Club Josie Page - Westside Christ Church Aquatic Kaiden Richings - North Coast Swim Club Kon Stergiou - Perth City Swimming Club Rosie Wilson - North Coast Swim Club Thomas Dreverman - South Shore Swimming Club Congrats to you all and I can’t wait to see how you go in the upcoming Open Water Series. For everyone reading this I would just like to say a special thank you, Last week I released a blog article - 3 Step Guide to Swimming Strength & Performance

And the feedback I have received from it has been incredible. Thank you to everyone that took the time to read it and download the 3-step guide. I will be looking to do more of these in the future and I hope that it continues to provide everyone with useable insights and information. Until next time, #swimmingstrong
